09 - Fresh parsley or chives for garnish
10 - 1 tablespoon melted butter, optional

# Directions:

01 - In a medium bowl, combine softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt. Mix thoroughly until smooth and well blended.
02 - Add a few drops of orange food coloring if desired and mix until the cheese blend is evenly colored to resemble carrots.
03 - Transfer the cheese filling into a piping bag or a zip-top bag with a corner snipped off.
04 - Gently warm the crackers for 10 to 15 seconds in the microwave to make them more pliable if needed.
05 - Roll each cracker into a cone shape and seal the edge with melted butter or by pressing gently. Allow to cool and set.
06 - Pipe the cheese mixture into each cone until filled to the top.
07 - Insert a small bunch of parsley or a few chive stems into the open end of each cone to resemble carrot greens.
08 - Arrange on a serving platter and serve immediately, or refrigerate until ready to serve.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • They're deceptively easy to make, yet impressive enough that people always ask for the recipe.
  • Kids can help with almost every step, from mixing the cheese to arranging the parsley on top.
  • No baking required means you can pull these together in under 20 minutes, even on a hectic morning.
  • They're naturally vegetarian and taste so much fresher than anything pre-made from a bakery.
02 -
  • Don't skip warming the crackers if they're at all brittle—a stiff cracker will crack and ruin the whole cone, and there's no fixing it once it breaks.
  • The orange food coloring is optional, but it genuinely transforms these from cute to magical, so I almost always use it these days.
03 -
  • Softening your cream cheese matters more than you'd think—hard cream cheese won't blend smoothly no matter how much you stir, so take it out of the fridge 30 minutes before you start.
  • If your filled cones start to soften and lose their shape, just pop them in the fridge for 15 minutes and they'll firm right back up.
